Very impressed with La Iguana Wanna. Seriously. It is hard opening a restaurant.... ironing out the kinks, working on the menu, satisfying everyone as much as you can. I ordered take out. But went in to take pictures and check out how they could possibly have improved the old home of Papapavlo's. If you ever visited the old Papapavlos, then you would know that it felt like you were on the inside of a Gunne Sax dress.... with a lot of brass and mirrors. If you don't know what a Gunne Sax dress is, then imagine a bridesmaid dress from the late 70s, early 80s. My mom dressed me in that kind of shit in hopes that I would turn into some willowy, dainty lady.... look at me now, mom. Those dresses did a whole hell of a lot for me, didn't they? The decor is 1000% better. The bar is gorgeous. While I was there, I perused the very impressive menu. I'm not shitting you. It was almost overwhelming. Almost. I brought home a carne asada burrito (they call them 'wraps') dinner, a side of beans and rice, a philly cheese steak sandwich with a side of fries... they threw in extra tortillas, salsa. All perfectly packaged, piping hot upon my arrival home. Here are the pros: - the tortillas... I think they might be hand made - the red salsa was incredible - the beans and rice were probably the best I've had in a while - the service was outstanding - they remembered everything (napkins, sides) - I think my husband liked his meal... there was nothing left - the guacamole was very good... I don't even like the stuff - the service was very impressive. I was being a complete pill and kept adding stuff to my order and the sweet girl never seemed annoyed. I would have been. Here are the cons: - chips were 'Costco' like - the tables are still kind of close together.... while waiting to pay for my order, I felt like I was sitting in one of the patron's lap - the green salsa was definitely not for me - my philly sandwich had nacho cheese sauce. Never had it that way... am accustomed to a white cheese on that type of a sandwich. But the meat was cooked to perfection. I must mention that the prices are a bit shocking. In a good way. This place is definitely a gem. There is a HUGE variety of items on the menu... seriously, there is something for EVERYONE. I will update this when we actually dine in.
